VI Consortium<\/em> that the doctor was discovered unresponsive in his office in the Sunny Isle Medical Center early Wednesday when his assistant arrived to open the office at 8 a.m. He was pronounced dead by medical personnel who later arrived on the scene.<\/p>\nSources tell us it was not unusual for Dr. Bishop, who has been a physician in St. Croix for many years, to lock himself in the office and work late. It appears he\u00a0may have died overnight or very early this morning.<\/p>\n
Patients had already arrived for early appointments and were waiting for the office to open when the assistant arrived and discovered the doctor inside.<\/p>\n
A cause of death has not yet been confirmed, but sources close to the situation\u00a0say the doctor may have passed away from an apparent heart attack.<\/p>\n
Dr. Frank Bishop received his medical degree from Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine and has been in practice for 40 years.<\/p>\n
