The Christensen-Ottley and Mapp-Potter gubernatorial teams are going head-to-head, according to new polling results conducted online by the\u00a0VI Consortium<\/em>.<\/p>\n

With approximately 2,369 votes cast, the poll, which allowed respondents to vote only once per internet IP, has Christensen holding on to a slim 41 percent lead over Mapp’s 38 percent.<\/p>\n

Of those whom took the poll, 393 did so on social media platforms, including Facebook and Google Plus. See chart below:<\/p>\n

Gender breakdown shows 5.6 percent of pollsters were female, followed by 5.1 percent male. The remaining percentage was comprised of anonymous voters.<\/p>\n

Since our poll was conducted online, it is unclear how many respondents were actually registered and likely voters. The poll opened\u00a0on Aug. 8 and closed on Nov. 3. Results of a recent scientific poll conducted by UVI, showed 28 percent of respondents intend to vote for the Mapp-Potter team, 23 percent for the Donna Christensen team, 5 percent for the Barnes-Coram team, and 4 percent for Diase-Coffelt-Canegata.<\/p>\n

Though the VI Consortium’s<\/em> poll was not scientific in nature, it shows a race that is not decided, as voters weigh their options in what some deems as the most important election in a generation.<\/p>\n

Is the territory headed for a runoff? Will Mapp or Christensen win the election outright? Or, could there be an\u00a0upset by one of the other candidates? The wait won’t be long.<\/p>\n
