Former gubernatorial candidate Soraya Diase-Coffelt has endorsed Kenneth Mapp for governor, VI Consortium <\/em>can confirm.<\/p>\n

In a newly released ad that will start airing on radio stations November 16, Coffelt says she’s endorsing the Mapp-Potter team because she believes they are “genuine in their commitment of improving the lives of the people.”<\/p>\n

“After giving thoughtful consideration as to what both teams stand for, I am publicly endorsing the Mapp-Potter team,” Coffelt said. “I believe that they are genuine in their commitment to fight for improving the lives of the people, and are against corruption.”<\/p>\n

Coffelt said she believes the Mapp-Potter team is best suited to unite the people by bringing former rivals together for the greater good of the territory. The former judge added that the Mapp-Potter team understands the challenges the territory collectively faces, and encouraged those who supported her to support them, as well.<\/p>\n

“Just as President Obama assembled a team of rivals to work together for the betterment of the people of the United States after the 2008 Presidential Elections, I also believe that the Mapp-Potter team will do the same for our Islands.<\/p>\n

She continued: “Ultimately, we are all in this fight together, and it’s a fight we cannot afford to lose. The Mapp-Potter team truly understands that the challenges we face are great, and the future of our Islands are at stake. Join me on November 18 and vote for the Mapp-Potter team.”<\/p>\n

Coffelt placed third in the gubernatorial race with 1,837 total votes, or 7.07 percent. In a recent interview with VI Consortium<\/em>, where the former candidate for governor was promoting her newly released children’s book, Coffelt said, while she was considering giving her endorsement to one of the two candidates, she hadn’t yet made up her mind.<\/p>\n

“No, I have not and I\u2019m still trying to decide about that,” she told<\/a><\/span> VI Consortium<\/em> on November 12.<\/p>\n

Now that Coffelt has endorsed the Mapp-Potter team, the candidate who placed fourth in the gubernatorial race, Mona Barnes, will be sought after by both the Mapp and Christensen camps for\u00a0her support. In fact, sources told the\u00a0VI Consortium<\/em>\u00a0that Christensen and Mapp have already asked Barnes for her support, but Barnes said she desired to remain neutral.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
