Governor Kenneth Mapp last Saturday attended a ceremony that celebrated the achievement of longtime Scout, Phillip Edwards, for achieving Eagle Scout status.\u00a0There, the governor made promises to support the efforts of the territory’s Scouts, most significantly in what he called “Career Day,” where Scouts would have the opportunity to work in places of authority for one day, just as the governor did during his days as a\u00a0Scout.<\/p>\n
Mapp said he was touched by Edwards’ passion to help create a better Virgin Islands through his leadership as a Scout, and reflected on his own achievement as a Life Scout and the difficulty in achieving the Eagle Scout level. He also congratulated\u00a0the leadership of Troop 7227 on their fostering of the 16 Eagle Scouts from St. Croix.<\/p>\n
“I am very proud of all of your achievements, and I am humbled by the love and support that is evident here in this room tonight,” Mapp said. “I can see great things for you in your future, as you have already set the bar at your young age. Phillip Edwards, congratulations on your acquiring the coveted status of Eagle Scout.”<\/p>\n
The governor also presented Edwards with a signature Virgin Islands watch inscribed from the\u00a0people of the Virgin Islands.<\/p>\n
