The mid-island branch of the St. Croix Rotary Club has received a grant of $10,000 from a private source that will be used exclusively to support youth education programs on St. Croix.<\/p>\n

Adrienne Seward, Mid-Isle Rotary Club president, said the club has received the first-time fund\u00a0“to allow us to do even more work with the youth of our community. The need is great, and we believe we will be able to do some excellent work to support some of our schools and other organizations.”<\/p>\n

The club is now accepting applications from all public and private schools on St. Croix in need of funding for\u00a0any number\u00a0of projects,\u00a0ranging from equipment supply to educational programs, and more.<\/p>\n

“Our hope is that this year, we may be able to fund projects for four to six schools through this initiative,” Seward said. “The $10,000 grant will be used on projects through June of this year. If all goes well, we anticipate being able to renew this grant in the coming years.”<\/p>\n

Funding will be awarded based on the level of impact on students in the school, the amount needed to fund the project, and the school’s ability to keep the project alive, according to the organization.<\/p>\n

Schools interested in applying are asked to contact Kim DeLine, youth services chair, at\u00a0Kimedeline@gmail.com.<\/p>\n

In order to further support\u00a0the fund and other youth-oriented initiatives on St. Croix, Mid-Isle Rotary Club will\u00a0host its “Iron Bartender Mixology” fundraiser on Friday, March 27 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Captain Morgan Visitors Center. For a $50 donation, attendees will enjoy food, drink, and entertainment.<\/p>\n
