Chandra Gomez, 20, of St. Thomas stabbed her father to death Thursday morning because she could no longer witness the beating her mother was receiving at her father’s hands, people with direct knowledge of the matter, who requested anonymity because of the sensitive nature of the story, told VI Consortium<\/em>\u00a0Thursday evening.<\/em><\/p>\n

After VI Consortium<\/em> received details of the incident, a press release was later issued by VIPD Public Information Officer Kevin Jackson containing some information about what occurred\u00a0and charges brought against Gomez.<\/p>\n

Sources tell VI Consortium<\/em> events leading up to the stabbing death began when the now-deceased man, Alvin Gomez, was at work and received a telephone call from home. He told his employer that something had gone wrong at the home and he needed to return to his house. It was not specified who made the call from the residence.<\/p>\n

When the man arrived at the house, sources tell VI Consortium<\/em>, an argument ensued between him and his\u00a0wife, escalating to the point of him beating her.<\/p>\n

The daughter, who was present during \u00a0the incident, came to the defense of her mother and stabbed her father with a knife in his back, which lead to his death.<\/p>\n

According to the VIPD’s account of the incident, officers with the Criminal Investigation Unit responded to a call of an assault victim at 10 a.m. Thursday in the vicinity of Mahogany Estate. Upon arrival at the scene, officers discovered the unresponsive body of a male, later identified as Alvin Gomez, who had sustained a stab wound to the back. He was pronounced dead at the scene.<\/p>\n

The victim\u2019s daughter was subsequently placed under arrest and charged with second degree homicide, domestic violence without bail under the Domestic Violence Law and was remanded\u00a0to the Bureau of Corrections pending her advise-of-rights hearing.<\/p>\n
