ST. THOMAS — The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority has issued a tentative electrical service interruption schedule for small sections of St. Thomas for Thursday evening. These outages will only be required if the demand for electricity surpasses the power generating capacity of the power plant. The shortfall of power generation capacity is a result of two generators undergoing repairs following weekend incidents.<\/p>\n
Plant personnel completed repairs on Unit 23 and is expected to undergo testing later this evening. Work continued Thursday to repair a breaker on Unit 15.<\/p>\n
If necessary, rotating service interruptions will occur at two hours intervals, and will be conducted in a manner to ensure service is maintained by as many customers as possible. Additionally, public notice will be given of feeders selected for rotation, via VI Alert, the WAPA website and social media platforms such as Facebook.<\/p>\n
Thursday evening\u2019s tentative rotation schedule is as follows:<\/p>\n
6:30 pm \u2013 8:30 pm \u2013 sections of feeder 7A
\n8:30 pm \u2013 10:30 pm \u2013 sections of feeder 6A
\n10:30 pm \u2013 12:30 am \u2013 sections feeder 7C, 8B, 9C
\n12:30 am \u2013 2:30 am \u2013 sections of feeder 7D<\/p>\n
