CROIX &#8212; A vehicular accident turned deadly this morning at about 3:43 a.m. on the Queen Mary Highway near the vicinity of the Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority in Frederiksted, leaving a 22-year-old man dead, VIPD Public Information Officer Kevin Jackson has announced.<\/p>\n<p>According to Jackson, police arrived on the scene and noticed that a black car had slammed into a tree and broke into pieces, rendering the vehicle almost unrecognizable.\u00a0The force of the impact pushed the man out of the vehicle and onto the side of the road, near some bushes, Jackson said.<\/p>\n<p>Upon arriving on the scene, emergency technicians examined the body, however no sign of life was found.<\/p>\n<p>The man has been identified as Makeil Felix.<\/p>\n<p>Traffic investigators are continuing their probe into the accident.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Correction: April 18<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>An earlier version of this story misspelled the name of the deceased. It is Makeil Felix and not Makeel Felix. The erroneous information was provided by the VIPD, which VI Consortium found out after doing some research.
