ST. THOMAS \u2013 The Harwood Highway will be closed on Wednesday April 22 at 9 a.m. so that paving can begin, according to Public Works Commissioner designee Gustav James.<\/p>\n

James said weather permitting, both eastbound and westbound lanes will be closed within limited work zones and traffic will be detoured around the established zone.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis disruption is necessary in order to bring the highway back into compliance for safe usage,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Motorists are urged to use alternate routes and to pay close attention to posted signs, barriers and warning devices.\u00a0 Traffic control will be modified as paving progresses, James said.<\/p>\n

The work will be completed no later than Friday May 1, he said.<\/p>\n

James asked for the community\u2019s cooperation during the construction phase and apologized for any inconvenience it may cause to the motoring public.<\/p>\n
