ST. CROIX \u2013 Rotary Mid-Isle sponsored its annual Medical Careers Seminar at the Juan F. Luis Hospital and Medical Center recently.<\/p>\n
Students from St. Croix Central High School \u2013 who expressed an interest in careers in the medical field \u2013 were invited to attend.<\/p>\n
Twenty-two eleventh graders and three seniors heard from professionals in various medical fields talk about what it is like to be a medical professional.<\/p>\n
Speakers included: Julia Runge, RDCS, RVT, Garfield Tobias, RT (R), and Deborah Moise, RT (R) from Diagnostic Imaging; Branda Dyer, CMA; Michelle Grochalski, RN; Charmaine Gumbs, Surgical Tech; Augustin Hendrington, Malika Felix, and Ladonia Carrington from the Biomedical Department; Marcel Galiber, RDMS, RVT, ARMRIT of Quantum CT and Pamela Colbert, RT (R) (MR) of St. Croix MRI.<\/p>\n
Rotary Mid-Isle said a special thanks to Karen Chancellor, counselor at Central High School, for organizing the students who participated, and to Pamela Sanes, for arranging the speakers.<\/p>\n
Following the presentations April 17, students enjoyed a light lunch from the cafeteria, and went on tours of the VI Cardiac Center, the hospital\u2019s Diagnostic Imaging Department, Quantum CT and St. Croix MRI.<\/p>\n
