ST. JOHN \u2013 The 5th Annual St. John Summer Youth Fair kicks off Wednesday May 6 at the Julius Sprauve School in Cruz Bay from 5:30 to7:30 p.m., according to Virgin Islands Police Department spokesman Kevin Jackson.<\/p>\n
The fair is organized by the St. John Community Integration Team (CIT) and the VIPD. CIT is a volunteer organization that works in conjunction with the VIPD in recognizing and addressing ways to improve police\/community relations, Jackson said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe St. John Summer Youth Fair helps to connect children and their families with summer activities and employment opportunities, and operates on a simple concept – gather all the summer camps and youth employment programs together in one place,\u201d Jackson said, adding that youngsters and their parents are invited to pick a program of their choice and then sign up.<\/p>\n
Jackson said getting youngsters involved in summer programs benefits the entire community, as the programs expose youngsters to positive alternatives and they, in turn, receive valuable learning opportunities.<\/p>\n
\u201cSummer camp time is almost here and children are looking forward to having fun at the summer camp of their choice and many young people will have their first experience at summer employment,\u201d he said. \u201cIf you didn\u2019t participate last year, there\u2019s still time to join up and become a part of this exciting event.\u201d<\/p>\n
