ST. CROIX — Police arrested Jonathan Rivera of the Williams Delight Housing Community on Thursday night and\u00a0charged him with assault in the first degree for allegedly shooting a man in his back, Kevin Jackson, VIPD’s public information officer has revealed. The two men were previously engaged in an altercation.<\/p>\n

Jackson said when officers arrived on the scene, they met with the victim, a 40-year-old male, who also resides in Williams Delight. The victim said Rivera shot him in the back when the two made contact on Thursday night in the community’s vicinity.<\/p>\n

The wounded man was then transported to the Juan F. Luis Hospital via ambulance for treatment. However, according to Jackson, the victim’s current state is unknown.<\/p>\n

Unable to post bail of $75,000, Rivera was remanded to the Golden Grove Correctional Facility pending his advise-of-rights hearing.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
