ST. CROIX — A man was shot in the arm while attempting to breakup a quarrel between another man and a woman in the wee hours Tuesday morning, Kevin Jackson, VIPD’s Public Information Officer has revealed.<\/p>\n
According to police reports, at about 12:37 a.m., the 911 emergency call center received notification of a shooting incident on Queen Cross Street. Arriving on the scene within minutes of the incident, police met the victim, a resident of Queen Cross Street, with a gunshot wound to his right shoulder.<\/p>\n
The victim stated that while standing at the front of Benticks, a store on Company Street, he observed a black male, wearing a pair of glasses, white t-shirt and black pants arguing with a woman. Attempting to quell the quarrel, the victim moved closer to the arguing pair and tried to intervene. However, the man would not relent, instead he pulled out a loaded gun and shot the victim in his right shoulder.<\/p>\n
The suspect, identified as Gregory Barnes, was arrested in the same area and the firearm used in the incident was also recovered. He was later charged with first degree assault and remanded to the Golden Grove Correctional Facility for his advise-of-rights hearing after failing to make bail of $70,000.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
