ST. THOMAS — The Department of Planning and Natural Resources (DPNR) has announced registration dates for commercial fishing as well as recreational boating in the territory.<\/p>\n
According to the department, recreational boat and mooring registration runs from June 1 to 30, and July 6-8 for commercial licensing and boat registration on St. Croix.<\/p>\n
DPRN also reminded commercial fishers\u00a0to call the Division of Fish and Wildlife (DFW) at 340-773- 1082 for an appointment slot, as fishers will receive a collaborative presentation and outreach from DPNR, NOAA Fisheries, US Coast Guard and National Park Service, which may require 40 minutes prior to registration.<\/p>\n
On St. Thomas,\u00a0recreational boat and mooring registration runs from June 1 to 30, and July 13-15 for commercial licensing and boat registration.<\/p>\n
Like St. Croix, commercial fishers in St. Thomas are required to call DFW at 340-775-6762 for an appointment slot. Fishers on the island will also receive a collaborative presentation from the aforementioned agencies, requiring at least 40 minutes prior to registration.<\/p>\n
St. John fishermen will be required to travel to DPNR on St. Thomas.<\/p>\n
Note to Commercial Fishers: <\/strong>Appointments in both jurisdictions range between 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. and 2-3:30 p.m., with limited slots per appointment time. Please call early to secure an appointment time and confirm how many helpers you intend to have accompany you. Presentations must be received during the registration process. In order to be eligible for registration, commercial fishers must come prepared with all necessary documents, including commercial fishing licenses and helper cards, at the time scheduled for their appointment and be up to date on submission of commercial catch report forms. Commercial fishers must be up-to-date on dues for their Division of Environmental Enforcement managed fish house lockers or they will not be allowed to register.<\/em>
