Of Education Job Opening: Help Desk Specialist"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>THE POSITION BELOW IS VACANT IN THE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>POSITION TITLE: Help Desk Specialist<\/p>\n<p>LOCATION: St. Thomas\/ St. John District and St. Croix District<\/p>\n<p>Interested persons should contact: DIVISION OF HUMAN RESOURCES<br \/>\n(340) 773-1095<\/p>\n<p>Deadline for applying: July 10, 2015<\/p>\n<p>Salary Range: $34,940<\/p>\n<p>Union: Support Staff Unit \u2013 (AFT)<\/p>\n<p><strong>DESCRIPTION<\/strong><br \/>\nThis is a standard positon description whose function is to provide assistance to a specialized\u00a0assistance program for users in solving personal computer problems. Work involves recording\u00a0and researching problems, conduction follow-up-actions and providing training.<\/p>\n<p>An employee in this class works under the immediate supervision of a higher level officer.\u00a0Some degree of independence is expected, especially in the areas of tracking problems and\u00a0researching to resolve routine user problems related to computer operations.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES (NOT ALL INCLUSIVE)<\/strong><br \/>\nReceives calls from users requesting solutions or service to personal computer problems;<\/li>\n<li>Records all problems reported or discovered;<\/li>\n<li>Researches and resolves routine user problems related to computer and communication,\u00a0equipment and software;<\/li>\n<li>Conducts and coordinates user support for personal computer software\/hardware and on-line\u00a0systems through telephone communication and on site assistance;<\/li>\n<li>Assists information services staff in development and establishment of problem prevention\u00a0programs such as user training;<\/li>\n<li>Maintains current computer software reference materials such as user manuals, training\u00a0guides and technical support materials;<\/li>\n<li>Performs data entry and output verifications;<\/li>\n<li>Provides monthly reports, based on Help Desk System and other information;<\/li>\n<li>Performs other related duties as required.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITIES<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Knowledge of local and federal laws, rules, regulations and policies regarding financial\u00a0Internal\/External\u00a0assistance programs;<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of the operation and care of the digital computer and it peripheral equipment;<\/li>\n<li>In depth knowledge of computer software and technical methods;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts Degree in Computer Science, Data Processing or\u00a0Information System or;<\/li>\n<li>Associate Degree in Computer Science, Data Processing, Information System or any closely\u00a0related field and two (2) years computer related experience or;<\/li>\n<li>Equivalent combination of education and experience not to go below a High School Diploma\u00a0and not less than five (5) years practical experience, two of which must be in computer\u00a0related work.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u201cNo person shall be discriminated against in employment or in any other educational\u00a0program or activity offered by the Virgin Islands Department of Education on account of\u00a0race, color, creed, national origin, sex, handicap, or age.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>THE POSITION BELOW IS VACANT IN THE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION: POSITION TITLE: Help Desk Specialist LOCATION: St. Thomas\/ St. John District and St. Croix District Interested persons should contact: DIVISION OF HUMAN RESOURCES (340) 773-1095 Deadline for applying: July 10, 2015 Salary Range: $34,940 Union: Support Staff Unit \u2013 (AFT) DESCRIPTION This is a standard [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":3,"featured_media":23830,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[628],"tags":[2276],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v20.0 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/wordpress\/plugins\/seo\/ -->\n<title>Dept.
