ST. THOMAS — The Virgin Islands Department of Planning and Natural Resources (DPNR) announced via press release today that three beaches on St. Thomas and two on St. John are unsafe for swimming and fishing this weekend.<\/p>\n

DPNR said\u00a0Frenchman\u2019s Bay, Coki Point, and Water Bay on St. Thomas did not meet water quality standards for swimming and fishing; nor did Cruz Bay and Great Cruz Bay on St. John.<\/p>\n

On St. Croix, however, all beaches the department tested proved to be safe for swimming and fishing.<\/p>\n

The beaches deemed safe this weekend on all three islands according to DPNR include the following:<\/p>\n

St. Croix:<\/strong>\u00a0Stoney Ground, Protestant Cay, Chenay Bay, Buccaneer, Cane Bay, Cramer Park, Rainbow, Shoy\u2019s, New Fort (Ft. Louise Augusta), Pelican Cove (Comorant), Halfpenny, Grapetree Bay, Princess (Condo Row), Dorsch, Frederiksted Public Beach, Columbus Landing and Sprat Hall.<\/p>\n

St. Thomas:<\/strong>\u00a0Hull Bay, Brewer\u2019s Bay, Lindquist, Bolongo Bay, Sapphire, Bluebeards, Vessup Bay, Magen\u2019s Bay, Lindbergh Bay and Secret Harbor.<\/p>\n

St. John:<\/strong>\u00a0Oppenhiemer, Johnson\u2019s Bay and Frank Bay.<\/p>\n

DPNR says it will continue to monitor the impacted areas and waters.<\/p>\n

For more information regarding water quality call the Division of Environmental Protection at 773-1082 in St. Croix.<\/p>\n
