ST. CROIX — A weekend of violence here saw a man being shot outside a nightclub<\/a><\/span> in Sion Farm; an attempted robbery in Estate Strawberry that ended with one of the suspects being shot twice by an unknown assailant<\/a><\/span>; a 29-year-old who was shot<\/a><\/span> in the shoulder and grazed by a bullet in her neck at a Richmond, Christiansted house party; and now a young man shot in the wee hours of Saturday morning while sitting on his porch, after being asked if he was from the east or west side of the island.<\/p>\n

According to the report, the 911 emergency call center received a call from the Juan F. Luis Hospital concerning a male gunshot victim who’d walked into the facility seeking medical attention.<\/p>\n

Officers responded to the incident and met with the victim, an 18-year-old from Estate Glynn, who said he was sitting on his porch at about 3:00 a.m. talking on his phone, when a vehicle drove by his residence and stopped.<\/p>\n

The operator of the vehicle then asked the victim whether he was from the east or west side of the island, pulled out a gun, pointed at the 18-year-old and discharged a shot, striking the victim in his forearm. The assailant then drove off.<\/p>\n

The victim said he felt that he’d been hit, however instead of calling for ambulance assistance, he waited for a ride and traveled to the hospital via private transportation.<\/p>\n

Jackson said detectives are continuing their investigation into the incident.<\/p>\n
