ST. THOMAS — Back on May 11, the Department of Public Works announced the closure of Coki Point Road in Estate Smith Bay for much-needed repairs. Approximately two months later, on July 11, the road reopened.<\/p>\n
Senator Marvin Blyden, taking credit for the road’s quick repair after contacting Acting Commissioner Gustav James and notifying him of the matter, made known his satisfaction with the end result via a press release issued on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
“After Governor Kenneth Mapp appointed Mr. Gustav James as the then Commissioner-nominee, I immediately got in contact with Mr. James, with the help of the St. Thomas Administrator, Mr. Larry Boschulte. We both visited the site and when Commissioner James saw the extent of the problem, we agreed it was a high priority situation and had to be adhered to immediately,” Blyden said.<\/p>\n
“I want to publicly thank Acting Commissioner James, his staff, the contractor, Alex at Margaritaville, Coral World, and the Smith Bay\u00a0<\/span>community for their patience and enduring these months of inconvenience with little to no complaints.\u00a0 <\/span>Your cooperation with the Department of Public Works and my office made these past months very much worth it, and I applaud you all,” the freshman senator added.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" ST.
