ST. CROIX — A victim who was robbed of $6,000 last Saturday said he was lured into an ambush by a person he’d met a week prior in regards to renting an apartment, VIPD Public Information Officer Kevin Jackson announced via press release on Monday.<\/p>\n
According to the report, officers received notification from the 911 emergency call center regarding a victim of a possible robbery, who was on Strand Street in the vicinity of Pickard’s Laundry.<\/p>\n
The officers met with the victim, who stated that at 1:00 p.m. that afternoon, he\u2019d received a phone call from a man that he\u2019d met a week prior, who called himself “Hakeem”, telling the victim of an apartment for rent in the Christiansted area. The victim said\u00a0Hakeem, along with two other men, picked him up in a tan-colored Ford Focus at roughly 6:00 p.m. to go have a look at the apartment.<\/p>\n
But instead of the men making their way to the supposed place to rent, they drove the victim to an unknown residence on Peter\u2019s Farm Road, and Hakeem along with the two men went inside the house, leaving the victim alone in the vehicle.<\/p>\n
Hakeem suddenly came back to the vehicle and pointed a black handgun at the victim’s chest as he removed a wallet from the victim’s right-side pocket of his cargo pants. The victim told the officers that he was able to get out of the car and run towards Strand Street where he phoned 911.<\/p>\n
The victim also made known to police that his wallet contained some $6,000 in cash; along with several identification cards, however he wasn\u2019t injured during the incident.<\/p>\n
Hakeem was described as having a dark complexion, slim build and approximately 5\u20196\u201d in height with a low haircut, wearing a white t-shirt and short black pants.\u00a0No description was given for the two other males.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
