ST. CROIX — The Christiansted boardwalk turned into a crime scene last Saturday night at about 9:15 p.m. when three black males attempted to rob a woman walking with her daughter, VIPD Public Information Officer Kevin Jackson announced on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
According to Jackson, an attempted robbery was filed on Monday with the\u00a0Ancilmo Marshall Command, located in Basin Triangle.<\/p>\n
According to the victim, she and her daughter were walking towards the docking site\u00a0of the ferry to Protestant Cay, when she observed three young men approaching them. As she and her daughter passed by the young men, they asked her to take a picture of them, but she declined, clutched her bag tight to her body and continued walking away.<\/p>\n
Two of the individuals proceeded to follow the woman and one of them grabbed her bag and said, \u201cCome on, ma\u2019am…\u201d The victim said she continued to hold onto her bag as one of the two young men punched her in the left-side of her face, causing her glasses to scratch her and fall to the ground.<\/p>\n
The three young men then ran off in the direction of the Kings Alley Hotel, as she made her way, injured, but still holding onto her bag, to the ferry dock, where the boat captain phoned 911 for assistance.<\/p>\n
The suspects were described as being roughly 16-year-old teens, one dressed in a blue and white shirt with horizontal stripes and the other in a white t-shirt and dark colored shorts.<\/p>\n
The victim sustained a visible contusion to the left-side of her face, accompanied with swelling and scratches on her left ear.<\/p>\n
On the initial date and time of the incident, officers responded to the call made by the captain of the ferry but couldn\u2019t locate the victim, who later stated that she didn\u2019t want to go to the police station at the time of the incident, as she simply wanted to clean up her injuries and return to her hotel.<\/p>\n
The incident is under investigation by detectives with the Criminal Investigation Bureau.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
