ST. THOMAS — Signature Jewelers, an outlet located in the Havensight Mall in St. Thomas, was robbed in what appeared to be a well-staged attack, VIPD Public Information Officer Kevin Jackson has announced.<\/p>\n
According to Jacckson, the 911 emergency call center received notification at about 9:32 a.m. that a robbery had occurred at the aforementioned store.<\/p>\n
Responding officers arrived to the scene and met the store\u2019s manager, who stated that at 9:20 a.m. that morning, her eldest son opened the front door of their business then walked around the building to open the rear doors, only to witness a black male walking into the store with a gun pointed at his mother and another employee.<\/p>\n
According to the manager, a second man then entered the establishment and proceeded to shut the front door and started\u00a0demanding money and jewelry from everyone inside.<\/p>\n
The pair collected an undisclosed amount of cash and jewelry from patrons and the manager, tied everyone up with duct tape and proceeded to leave the store. However, as they were making their way outside, the manager’s youngest son entered the premises and was immediately thrown to the ground and threatened at gunpoint. The suspects then left the store, leaving the victims unharmed physically, but shaken mentally by the incident.<\/p>\n
Detectives with the Criminal Investigation Bureau are investigating the matter.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, A man who got into an altercation with two other males was beaten and robbed of his belongings in Cruz Bay, St. John, according to Jackson.<\/p>\n
According to the report,\u00a0officers received notification from the 911 emergency call center of a disturbance of the peace on Southside Road in the area of the Barge Ramp on Thursday, August 19.<\/p>\n
Officers responding to the call met with the 37-year-old male victim of the robbery, who stated that he\u2019d gotten onto a safari bus with two young, slim black men and as the trio disembarked from the safari at Southside Road, near the exit for the barge ramp, he became engaged in a physical altercation with the pair, who struck and kicked him repeatedly.<\/span><\/p>\n The two men then removed the victim\u2019s wallet from his rear pants pocket, which contained an undisclosed amount of cash, credit cards and personal identification and fled the scene.<\/p>\n But the victim refused to cooperate with officers in relation to what triggered the altercation, and was unable to provided a description of the suspects to officers. He also refused medical attention.<\/p>\n Officers conducted a search of the area and recovered several pieces of the victim\u2019s personal identification, but were unable to locate the wallet itself.<\/p>\n The incident is under investigation by the Criminal Investigation Bureau.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" ST.
