THOMAS &#8212; D\u2019mari Heyliger, 23, pleaded guilty Monday in District Court here\u00a0to possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number and possession of an unlicensed firearm, United States Attorney Ronald W. Sharpe\u00a0announced on Monday. Sentencing is scheduled for January 11, 2016.<\/p>\n<p>According to the plea agreement filed with the court, on December 20, 2013, a federal\u00a0search warrant was executed on Heyliger\u2019s residence on this island and two firearms were\u00a0located in his bedroom. Both firearms had obliterated serial numbers, and Heyliger is not\u00a0authorized to possess a firearm in the Virgin Islands.<\/p>\n<p>Heyliger faces a maximum sentence of five\u00a0years in prison and a $250,000 fine for possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number, and five years in prison and a $15,000 fine for possession of an unlicensed firearm.<\/p>\n<p>This case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and\u00a0Explosives (ATF).
