ST. CROIX — The Caribbean Lock & Safe business located in Estate Diamond Ruby was robbed at gunpoint of an undisclosed amount of cash on Monday, Kevin Jackson, VIPD’s public information officer announced on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
Jackson said on Monday at about 12:41 p.m., the 911 emergency call center notified police officers of a robbery that had occurred at the business. Responding officers arrived at the scene and met with three staff members: a husband and wife couple who own the operation and one male employee.<\/p>\n
The male employee told officers that at roughly 12:30 p.m., while he was attempting to leave the business, he noticed an\u00a0unknown male individual enter the screen door located on the building\u2019s eastern side, brandishing a gun. The suspect then demanded that the male employee get down to the ground and proceeded to grab the male victim’s wallet, emptied it of its monetary contents and gave it back to the victim, who was still flat on the ground.<\/p>\n
The suspect, turning his attention to the business’ rear office, noticed the female co-owner, who had hidden herself in the restroom with the door slightly ajar. He then pointed the gun towards her and commanded that she too get on the ground. The suspect picked up a bank bag containing cash and also looted the cash register before fleeing the area.<\/p>\n
The male co-owner said he was to the far rear of the business and only noticed the suspect escaping, and said he immediately ran outside to phone 911.<\/p>\n
No one was injured during the robbery, and the male suspect has been described as\u00a0having worn all black clothing, a black bandana covering his face, while brandishing a chrome-colored gun.<\/p>\n
