ST. CROIX — Virgin Islands Police Department officers evacuated the Home Depot store located at the Island Crossing Shopping Center this afternoon as they investigated the matter, but it turned out to be a hoax, according to police.<\/p>\n
Employees told The Consortium \u00a0that the store received a call at about 12:30 p.m., warning that a bomb was placed in the store. VIPD officers moved to evacuate employees and shoppers from the building. However, after an investigation of the facility, employees who evacuated to Home Depot’s entrance near the stoplights on the Melvin Evans Highway, were cleared to report back to work at about 2:14 p.m., The Consortium, on the scene at the time, can confirm.<\/p>\n
It was not the first time a bomb threat had been levied against Home Depot St. Croix.<\/p>\n
Additional information was not immediately available on Friday afternoon, and Home Depot representatives said they were not allowed to talk about the occurrence.<\/p>\n
