ST. CROIX — The Department of Planning and Natural Resources has released the results of its weekly beach water quality monitoring program, revealing that seven beaches — one here and six in St. Thomas — do not meet\u00a0water quality standards and are not safe for swimming or fishing:<\/p>\n
They are:<\/p>\n
St. Thomas<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n Frenchman\u2019s Bay, Hull Bay, Brewer\u2019s Bay, Vessup Bay, Water Bay and Bluebeards.<\/p>\n St. Croix<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n Halfpenny<\/p>\n The Beaches that are safe for swimming and fishing territory-wide this weekend are as follows:<\/p>\n St. Croix<\/strong><\/p>\n Stoney Ground, Protestant Cay, Chenay Bay, Buccaneer, Cane Bay, Cramer Park, Rainbow, Shoy\u2019s, New Fort (Ft. Louise Augusta), Pelican Cove (Comorant), Princess (Condo Row), Columbus Landing, Dorsch, Frederiksted Public Beach and Sprat Hall.<\/p>\n St. Thomas<\/strong><\/p>\n Lindquist, Bolongo, Sapphire, Coki Point, Magen\u2019s Bay, Secret Harbor and Lindbergh Bay.<\/p>\n St. John<\/strong><\/p>\n Cruz Bay,\u00a0<\/span>Oppenhiemer,\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Great Cruz Bay and\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Frank Bay.<\/span><\/p>\n DPNR says Grapetree Bay on St. Croix and Johnson Bay on St. John could not be\u00a0<\/span>sampled \u00a0this week due to the heavy presence of seaweed along the shoreline.<\/span><\/p>\n The department also says it\u00a0will continue to monitor the impacted areas and waters.<\/p>\n For additional information regarding water quality call the Division of Environmental Protection at 773-1082 in St. Croix.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" ST.
