THOMAS &#8212; Carnival Sunshine<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> will call on St. Thomas on Tuesday, October 6<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">th<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the West Indian Company, Ltd. announced today.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201c<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Carnival Sunshine<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> was diverted to St. Thomas due to the forecast track of Hurricane\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Joaquin,\u201d Joseph B. Boschulte, President and CEO of the West Indian Company, Ltd. said. \u00a0\u201cThe ship was originally scheduled to call on Bermuda; however, Carnival Cruise Lines decided to redirect the ship to the U.S. Virgin Islands. We are pleased to welcome the passengers and crew.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The 3,400-passenger cruise ship will berth at the WICO dock at 8:00 a.m. and depart at 6:00 p.m. for Grand Turk. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Conservatively, the call is expected to contribute $758,600 in passenger and crew spending to the economy. The most popular spending categories are retail; taxi, car rental and tours; entertainment and recreation; and food and beverage &#8211; in that order. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Previously known as <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Carnival Destiny<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the 842-foot <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Carnival Sunshine<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> underwent a $155 million renovation and was rechristened in 2013. \u00a0It was the first passenger ship ever built over 100,000 gross tons. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Carnival Glory <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and Norwegian<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Getaway<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> also will be in port at the WICO dock on October 6th. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ST.
