ST. CROIX — Virgin Islands Police Department Officers are seeking help from the community here to identify\u00a0a man<\/a><\/span> who set a chicken on fire and uploaded the video to social media, VIPD Public Information Officer Kevin Jackson announced on Wednesday night.<\/p>\n

According to Jackson, on Tuesday, September 28, investigators were notified of the video that was posted on Facebook (it seems to have been taken down), showing “several individuals” setting a young fowl ablaze.<\/p>\n

The incident occurred on Saturday, September 26, at around 6:47 p.m. here, and was uploaded by a user going by the name of \u2018Blacks Lee\u2019. The video clip was also uploaded to the Facebook Community Page entitled, \u201cWhat\u2019s Going on St. Thomas\u201d, where it garnered more than 5,000 views and many negative comments, according to Jackson.<\/p>\n

Reviewing the 47-second clip, detectives were able to gather that the incident took place in the Mutual Homes Housing Community located in Frederiksted, and shows a young man trying to ignite a disposal lighter on a young fowl in an attempt to set it on fire.<\/p>\n

Moments later, the chicken is seen being engulfed in flames and runs a short distance onto a road and suddenly dies. Voices of laughter could be heard in the background, Jackson said, including utterances like: “watch ya\u2019, fry chicken”<\/p>\n

Police are asking for the community\u2019s assistance in identifying the young man in the still photo, taken from the video footage.<\/p>\n
