THOMAS &#8212; District Court Judge Curtis V. Gomez today sentenced Carlos Salvador\u00a0Fernandez, 47, to 25 months in prison and three years of supervised release for reentering the United\u00a0States after having been deported, United States Attorney Ronald W. Sharpe announced.<\/p>\n<p>On June 10,\u00a02015, Fernandez pleaded guilty to reentry after deportation.<\/p>\n<p>Court records show that on April 20, 2015, Fernandez presented himself for inspection at the Cyril\u00a0E. King International Airport on St. Thomas prior to boarding a flight to Washington, D.C. When\u00a0questioned, Fernandez claimed to be a United States permanent resident. Fernandez was referred for\u00a0secondary inspection at which time he admitted that he was previously deported from the United States\u00a0in February, 2006. The U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security did not give permission for him to reenter\u00a0the United States.<\/p>\n<p>This case was investigated by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement\u2019s Homeland\u00a0Security Investigations and U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
