CROIX &#8212; The Virgin Islands Department of Agriculture announced via press release on Friday that the abattoir here will reopen on Monday, October 19 for regular slaughtering activities.<\/p>\n<p>Operations will resume on Mondays and Tuesdays, according to the release, as the downed boiler that caused the a abattoir\u2019s closure two weeks ago has been repaired.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe VIDOA has already contacted our regular livestock farmers that uses the Abattoir and informed them that slaughtering will resume as usual on normal slaughter Days,&#8221; DOA Commissioner Designee Carlos Robles said. \u201cWe thank our clients for their understanding during our closure and look forward to serving them again.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>For more information on the St. Croix Abattoir\u2019s slaughtering schedule, please contact the VI Department of Agriculture on St. Croix at 778-0997 ext. 243.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ST.
