ST. THOMAS — A young man here who obtained and altered his police record in order to land a job at Pueblo has been arrested, VIPD Media Specialist Sakeeda Freeman made known through press release today.<\/p>\n

According to Freeman, on Wednesday at about 3:58 p.m., 33-year-old\u00a0Tashimo Scatliffe of Contant was arrested and charged with mutilation and destruction of records after he obtained a copy of his police records from the VIPD and altered it by deleting his criminal history, and copied and pasted other information to his records.<\/p>\n

Scatliffe attempted to seek employment with Pueblo Supermarket by presenting the store with the altered copy of his records, according to the release.<\/p>\n

It was only\u00a0Monday<\/a>\u00a0that<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Scatliffe pleaded guilty in District Court\u00a0here\u00a0to possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, according \u00a0to United States Attorney Ronald\u00a0W. Sharpe.<\/p>\n

According to the plea agreement filed with the court, on February 2, 2015, Virgin Islands\u00a0Police Department officers responded to the Paul M. Pearson Housing Community after receiving\u00a0a complaint from Building 7 regarding a domestic disturbance. Upon arrival, officers observed Scatliffe\u00a0leaving Building 7, and were notified that Scatliffe had a firearm.<\/p>\n

Further investigation by the VIPD and\u00a0the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) resulted in the retrieval of a firearm and\u00a0casing in the area, a determination that the casing was fired from the firearm, and the finding of Scatliffe\u2019s\u00a0DNA on the firearm. Prior to February 2, 2015, Scatliffe was convicted in the Superior Court of firstdegree\u00a0assault-larceny.<\/p>\n

Scatliffe faces a maximum sentence of 10 years in federal prison and a $250,000 fine. His sentencing is\u00a0scheduled for February 18, 2016.<\/p>\n

Unable to make bail for the most recent arrest, Scatliffe was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending his advise-of-rights hearing.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
