THOMAS &#8212; The vigilance of officers from U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) here\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"\">resulted in the <\/span><span class=\"\">identification and apprehension of two individuals with active warrants during the past weekend, a press release CBP issued on Monday has revealed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\"><span class=\"\">On October 24, Andre STOUTT, 31, a citizen of the British Virgin Islands (BVI), presented himself for CBP inspection when arriving at Cruz Bay, St. John Port of Entry from West End Tortola, BVI.\u00a0 <\/span><span class=\"\">Law enforcement databases alerted to an outstanding warrant for his arrest for <\/span><span class=\"\">the offense of Vehicle Theft<\/span><span class=\"\"> out of <\/span><span class=\"\">Brevard County Sheriff\u2019s Office<\/span><span class=\"\"> in Florida.\u00a0 CBP officers confirmed that the warrant was active, <span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><a style=\"color: #3366ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/viconsortium.com\/virgin-islands-2\/tortola-man-arrested-in-st-john-on-grand-theft-auto-charges\/\" target=\"_blank\">detained him<\/a><\/span> and turned over his custody to the Virgin Islands Police Department (VIPD) for extradition procedures.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\"><span class=\"\">The following day, October 25, during pre-departure inspections <\/span><span class=\"\">at the Cyril E. King Airport in St. Thomas, <\/span><span class=\"\">CBP officers identified another individual with an outstanding warrant.\u00a0 Mr. Richard Morales-Aponte, 30, a United States Citizen and <\/span><span class=\"\">resident of Wellington, Florida, <\/span><span class=\"\">attempted to board a flight bound to San Juan, Puerto Rico.\u00a0 St. Thomas CBP officers found he had a full extradition warrant out of the <\/span><span class=\"\">City of Yonkers Police Department, in New York, <\/span><span class=\"\">for Dangerous Drugs charges.\u00a0 After confirming the warrant and coordinating with Homeland Security Investigation agents and local police, his custody was turned over to VIPD for extradition.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\"><span class=\"\">\u201cThe identification of these travelers with outstanding warrants from different jurisdictions is just a sample of CBP\u2019s mission as guardians of our nation\u2019s borders,&#8221; stated St. Thomas Acting Area Port Director Vinroy Douglas.\u00a0 \u201cCustoms and Border Protection routinely cooperates with other law enforcement agencies in the enforcement of U.S. laws.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\"><span class=\"\">CBP officers detect many individuals wanted by authorities in the continental U.S.\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"\">upon their arrival to the USVI, or upon their return to the mainland from the USVI, according to the release.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\"><em>Feature Image:\u00a0Two Border Patrol agents and a CBP officer stationed at the San Ysidro Port of Entry.<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"\"><em>Image Credit: CBP Photographer Josh Denmark.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ST.
