THOMAS &#8212; Police on this island are investigating an assault that occured in one of the rooms of the former Mitchell Motel, now abandoned, according to a press release VIPD Public Information Officer Sakeeda Freeman issued on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>According to Ms. Freeman, on Thursday at about\u00a06:51 a.m., officers were dispatched to the Roy Lester Schneider Regional Hospital in response to a woman being treated for lacerations sustained during an assault that occurred in the former Mitchell Motel.<\/p>\n<p>Arriving at the medical facility, officers met with the victim, who stated that an unknown male entered her room at the Mitchel Motel and began stabbing her with an unknown sharp object about her body. The victim was admitted for further treatment and this matter is currently pending investigation, according to Ms. Freeman.<\/p>\n<p>The VIPD is asking anyone with information regarding the crime, a third degree assault, to\u00a0contact the Criminal Investigation Bureau at 340-714-9807 ext. 5556, 911, or the anonymous tip service Crime Stoppers USVI at 1-800-222-(TIPS) 8477 or go to www.crimestoppersusvi.org<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Correction: November 15, 2015<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>A previous version of this story did not clarify that the Mitchel Motel has been abandoned for multiple and is no longer in operation.
