ST. CROIX — Department of Finance Commissioner Vladimir Collens, in a brief conversation with The Consortium this evening, sought to give government employees a heads up concerning their fortnight pay that’s supposed to be available in bank accounts by early Wednesday, because of the Thanksgiving holiday. According to the commissioner, some banks may take until midday or even by the end of Wednesday to make available the money, however everyone should receive their pay by tomorrow.<\/p>\n
Mr. Collens, in a press release issued late Tuesday, said the DOF was\u00a0informed that the posting of the direct deposit file to a few local banking partners may be delayed because of the short work week.<\/p>\n
“Government employees affected are advised that local banks will honor your direct deposit advices, should you require emergency access to your funds,” the release states.<\/p>\n
The commissioner told The Consortium that the press release was issued so that residents don’t get nervous if they don’t see their pay early Wednesday, and stressed that the GVI had already made available the funds to the local banks.<\/p>\n
