ST. THOMAS — Edridge Clyne, 45, was arrested on Friday after a federal grand jury\u00a0returned a one-count indictment against him Thursday charging him with possession with intent\u00a0to distribute marijuana, United States Attorney Ronald W. Sharpe announced.<\/p>\n
After his arrest,\u00a0Clyne made his initial appearance before District Court Judge Curtis V. Gomez, who ordered\u00a0that he be released on a $25,000 unsecured bond with GPS monitoring. Arraignment is\u00a0scheduled for December 9, 2015.<\/p>\n
If convicted of possession with intent to distribute marijuana, Clyne faces a maximum\u00a0sentence of five years in prison and a $250,000 fine.<\/p>\n
United States Attorney Sharpe reminds the public that an indictment is merely a formal\u00a0charging document and is not evidence of guilt. Every defendant is presumed innocent until and\u00a0unless found guilty.<\/p>\n
The indictment is the result of investigative work by the U.S. Immigration and\u00a0Customs Enforcement\u2019s (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and the FBI.
