ST. CROIX — The Governor Juan F. Luis Hospital and Medical Center (JFL) is the recipient of a generous donation from the St. Croix Chamber of Commerce, the medical facility made known through a press release last Thursday.<\/p>\n
Earlier this year, it was brought to the attention of one the Chamber\u2019s members that the condition of the former furniture in the waiting area of JFL\u2019s lobby needed some attention. Chamber Board Member Isabel Brady stepped in, took pictures and went to work. She said the most important thing to her was that the new furniture would be durable.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe saw the need, and the board responded quickly and enthusiastically to meet that need,” she said.<\/p>\n
The Chamber purchased four arm chairs and two benches from Sweet Lime Furnishings worth roughly $2,000, and the furniture was delivered on August 1. A third bench was bought and generously donated by Chamber members James and Sharon Early. The benches were stained by JFL\u2019s maintenance staff.<\/p>\n
The furniture has been placed in JFL\u2019s lobby waiting area for use by patients and families who come to the hospital for care, and Chief Executive Officer Dr. Ken Okolo expressed gratitude to the Chamber for the donation.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis donation is significant because it represents the Chamber of Commerce\u2019s support and confidence that the hospital continues to meet the needs of the community\u201d Dr. Okolo said.<\/p>\n
The Chamber has expressed their ongoing support for the hospital and hope to make another contribution in the near future.<\/p>\n
