JOHN &#8212; Police arrested\u00a0Rupert \u201cYouth\u201d Walters last Friday and charged him with first degree murder in connection with the homicide of Kenson Jolly, VIPD Public Information Officer Kevin Jackson announced this afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>On May 29, 2015, <a href=\"https:\/\/viconsortium.com\/featured\/man-shot-dead-in-cruz-bay\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\">a\u00a0man was found slumped over a patio<\/span> <span style=\"color: #3366ff;\">chair<\/span><\/a>\u00a0with multiple gunshot wounds to his body, Mr. Jackson reported last year.<\/p>\n<p>Officers were dispatched\u00a0to the area of Kongens Gade in downtown Cruz Bay to followup on a disturbance report, and upon arrival, police saw the man\u2019s body slumped over, unresponsive to their verbal inquiries.<\/p>\n<p>The victim, a black male, was identified by next of kin as\u00a0Kenson Jolly, 25, of Pastory. He was also called \u2018Jolly\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>In today&#8217;s release, Mr. Jackson says Mr. Jolly <span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><a style=\"color: #3366ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/viconsortium.com\/virgin-islands-2\/arrest-made-in-cruz-bay-stabbing-man-charged-in-st-croix-carjacking\/\" target=\"_blank\">had been arrested<\/a><\/span> on Wednesday, February 18, 2015 on the charges of first degree assault, third degree assault, mayhem, and possession of a dangerous weapon during the commission of a crime in connection with a stabbing incident that occurred that evening.<\/p>\n<p>The victim of the stabbing was found bleeding from multiple wounds and minutes after searching the surrounding area, officers encountered Mr. Jolly, who matched the description of the suspect who was covered in blood.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Jolly had been detained and placed under arrest after being positively identified by a witness as the individual that assaulted Rupert Walters.<\/p>\n<p>Police did not say why or when Mr. Jolly was released before he was allegedly killed my Mr. Walters.<\/p>\n<p>As for Mr. Walters, he was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending his advise-of-rights hearing, after failing to make bail of $750,000.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em>Feature Image: Mugshot of Rupert Walters, provided by the VIPD.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ST.
