VIPD Public Information Officer Kevin Jackson announced the following arrests on St. Thomas from January 21-25.<\/p>\n

Thursday, January 21, 2016 \u2013 at 12:30 p.m., Maulique Juttori Caines<\/strong>, 19, of Anna\u2019s Retreat was arrested\u00a0and charged with grand larceny after he was positively identified as the individual that stole the\u00a0complainant\u2019s mobile device from his pocket. According to the report, the complainant purchased a new mobile device and the\u00a0suspect\u2019s picture showed up. Unable to make bail of $35,000, Ms. Caines was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending her advise-of-rights hearing.<\/p>\n

Thursday, January 21, 2016 \u2013 at approximately 12:25 p.m., James Edwards Nibbs<\/strong>, 40, of Fortuna was\u00a0arrested and charged with second degree arson. According to the report, Mr. Nibbs walked into a police\u00a0station and admitted to burning a vehicle in the Frydenhoj area. A vehicle was later discovered burnt in\u00a0that area and Mr. Nibbs also left a voicemail message stating that he\u2019d burned the complainant\u2019s vehicle. Unable to make bail of $50,000, Mr. Nibbs was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending his advise-of-rights hearing.<\/p>\n

Saturday, January 23, 2016 \u2013 Valencia Osborne<\/strong>, 40, of Anna\u2019s Retreat was arrested and charged with simple assault. Ms. Osborne was placed under arrest after she was positively identified as the person\u00a0who struck her daughter about the body, causing physical injury.<\/p>\n

Saturday, January 23, 2016 – George Sampson<\/strong>, 50, of Anna\u2019s Retreat was arrested and charged with simple assault. Mr. Sampson was placed under citizen\u2019s arrest after he assaulted a woman and threatened\u00a0to strike her with a bottle to the head. Unable to make bail of $500, Mr. Sampson was remanded to \u00a0the Bureau of Corrections pending his advise-of-rights hearing.<\/p>\n

Saturday, January 23, 2016 \u2013 at 12:15am, Hakim Brooks<\/strong>, 35, of Contant was arrested and charged with\u00a0and possession of an unlicensed firearm. Bail for Mr. Brooks was set at $25,000.00 and unable to\u00a0post bail, he was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending his advise-of-rights hearing.<\/p>\n

Saturday, January 23, 2016 \u2013 Mario Emanuel<\/a><\/span><\/strong>, 38, of Contant was arrested and charged with possession of an unlicensed firearm. Bail for Hakim Brooks was set at $25,000.00 and unable to post\u00a0bail, Mr. Emanuel was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending his advise-of-rights hearing.<\/p>\n

Saturday, January 23, 2016 – Phillip Bernier<\/a><\/span><\/strong> (age and residence unknown) was arrested and charged\u00a0with disturbance of the peace. Mr. Bernier was involved in a disturbance at the Roy Lester Schneider\u00a0Regional Hospital and disobeyed a lawful order rendered by a police officer. Unable to make bail of $500, Mr. Bernier was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending his advise-of-rights hearing.<\/p>\n

Sunday, January 24, 2016 – at 6:45pm<\/strong>, officers responded to the report of a third degree burglary that occurred on the outskirts of Yacht Haven Grande. According to the report, the female victim had been walking in an easterly direction outside of YHG when a Black male approached her from behind and\u00a0grabbed her backpack. As the man attempted to steal the backpack, he dragged her across the street\u00a0and struck her once in the stomach. The unknown male then took the backpack and ran into the Paul M.\u00a0Pearson Gardens Housing Community.<\/p>\n

Sunday, January 24, 2016 – Eric Duran<\/strong>, 52, of Cruz Bay, St. John, was arrested and charged with destruction\u00a0of property at 9:30 p.m., after having been identified by his Mother as the person who damaged her\u00a0window with a machete. Mr. Duran was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending his advise-of-rights hearing.<\/p>\n

And on Monday, January 25, 2016 \u2013 at roughly 11:29 a.m., Mohammad Bazar<\/a><\/span><\/strong>, 37, of Upper Contant was arrested\u00a0and charged with third degree assault after he was identified by the victim as the individual who fired\u00a0a single gunshot after a verbal altercation in the vicinity of Green House on Veteran\u2019s Drive on January\u00a018, 2016.\u00a0Mr. Bazar was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending his advise-of-rights hearing.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
