THOMAS &#8212; V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Kevin Jackson announced this afternoon that\u00a0Malaki George, 31, of Anna\u2019s Retreat turned himself in and was arrested based on a warrant signed by Judge Adam Christian on February 2nd, 2016.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. George was formally arrested and charged with the September 7, 2012 murder of David Payne.<\/p>\n<p>According to Mr. Jackson, on Friday, September 7, 2012 at roughly 10:30 p.m., the Major Crime Unit had responded to a residence located in Anna\u2019s Retreat where an unresponsive black male was discovered. The victim had sustained multiple gunshot wounds about the body and was later identified as 29-year-old David Payne.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_35314\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/viconsortium.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/malaki-george.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-35314\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-35314\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-35314\" src=\"https:\/\/viconsortium.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/malaki-george-300x196.jpg\" alt=\"Malaki George\" width=\"300\" height=\"196\" srcset=\"http:\/\/wp.viconsortium.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/malaki-george-300x196.jpg 300w, http:\/\/wp.viconsortium.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/malaki-george-768x503.jpg 768w, http:\/\/wp.viconsortium.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/malaki-george-1024x670.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/wp.viconsortium.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/malaki-george.jpg 1042w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-35314\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Malaki George<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Mr. George was initially charged with two counts of first degree murder, and today received the additional charges of second degree murder, first degree assault, third degree assault, use of a dangerous weapon during the commission of a crime of violence and first degree reckless endangerment.<\/p>\n<p>Unable to make bail of $500,000 Mr. George was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending his advise-of-rights hearing.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Correction:<\/strong> January 17, 2015<\/p>\n<p><em>A previous version of this story, because of an editing error, had Mr. George&#8217;s bail amount at $500, when it&#8217;s actually $500,000.
