ST. CROIX — Crews from the Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority\u2019s Water Distribution division continued late Thursday carrying out repairs on yet another leak discovered in the potable water lines near the Sunny Isle Shopping Center here, according to a W.A.P.A. press release.<\/p>\n
According to Interim Executive Director Julio A. Rhymer, Sr., as crews were wrapping up repairs Thursday afternoon on the final of two leaks discovered overnight Wednesday, yet another rupture occurred. Crews have deduced that these leaks, identified as holes in the piping, are usually the cause of either manufactured defects or improper bedding from the original installation of the pipes. This piping system was installed some 46 years ago, according to W.A.P.A.<\/p>\n
While crews continue working into the night Thursday to repair the newly discovered leak, the Contentment Pump Station will remain isolated, W.A.P.A. says. Water service interruption continues from Contentment to the Kingshill Storage Tank. Areas affected by the water \u00a0service interruption include: Estates Catherine\u2019s Rest, Humburg, Pearl, and Castle Coakley.<\/p>\n
