ST. THOMAS — A female who police say appeared to be intoxicated after they arrived on the scene where she and a male suspect were involved in an altercation, died while being transported to the Roy Lester Schneider Hospital, V.I.P.D. Media Specialist Sakeeda Freeman announced via press release on Thursday.<\/p>\n
According to Ms. Freeman, citing a police report, on Wednesday at approximately 5:00 a.m.,\u00a0officers responded to a call in regards to a disturbance in the area of Gottlieb Quick Way Gas Station, located in Contant. Upon arrival to the scene, contact was made with a black female — who police described as combative — lying on the ground just outside of the gas station’s convenience store.<\/p>\n
The female victim was bleeding from the head, with abrasions about her body as a result of an altercation with an unknown male, police say. The victim appeared to be under the influence; therefore ambulance was requested for assistance. However, the female victim again became combative and was subdued and restrained by the officers, according to the release. The police report adds that the female victim then experienced “some type of medical complication,” and succumbed to her injuries while being transported to the hospital.<\/p>\n
She was later identified as 41-year-old\u00a0Lekeitha Toya Crabtree of Contant Knolls, St. Thomas.<\/p>\n
