ST. CROIX — Rotary Club of St. Croix Mid-Isle honored five individuals in the St. Croix community for outstanding vocational service contributions, according to a press release the nonprofit organization issued on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
Today, Rotary Mid-Isle recognized Bill Bass, Musician and Public Servant, Abdul Ali, Freelance Columnist, Jamal and Virginia Miranda of J & V Diner, and Ron \u201cSwede\u201d Sundberg, Handyman for their outstanding contributions and representations of their vocations in the St. Croix community.<\/p>\n
\u201cToday we had the distinct pleasure of honoring individuals in our community for their outstanding work in their vocation and their work in the St. Croix community. It is through this recognition, that we as a Rotary club, can bring attention to those in our community who are doing great things. With that, today we are honored to present our Vocational Service Commendable Community Member awards to: Abdul Ali, Bill Bass, Jamal and Virginia Miranda and Ron Sundberg\u201d said club President, Kim DeLine<\/p>\n
The Object of Rotary is a philosophical statement of Rotary\u2019s purpose and the responsibilities of Rotarians. The concept of vocational service is rooted in the Second Object, which calls on Rotarians to \u201cencourage and foster\u201d:<\/p>\n
i. High ethical standards in business and professions
\nii. The recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations
\niii. The dignifying of each Rotarian\u2019s occupation as an opportunity to serve society<\/p>\n
DeLine stated, \u201cWe are delighted to be able to celebrate these outstanding community members in this fashion. They all bring so much to our community and it is our distinct pleasure to have a forum to honor their achievements.\u201d<\/p>\n
