ST. CROIX — Department of Health Commissioner Nominee Dr. Michelle Davis announced this morning her decision to donate brand new dental chairs to the St. Thomas East End Medical Clinic and the Frederiksted Health Center, D.O.H. announced via press release today.<\/p>\n

Health officials lauded the move.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am pleased to see that these very important and valuable pieces of equipment will be utilized to enhance public health across the territory,” said Dr. Davis. “Both S.T.E.E.M.C. and F.H.C. have active dental clinics and will put these chairs to work immediately. I support their efforts and will continue to work with the Federally Qualified Health clinics to provide health equity for all Virgin Islanders.”<\/p>\n

\u201cCongratulations to Commissioner Nominee Davis for her wise and swift decision in reference to the dental chairs. It is refreshing to see a commissioner who objectively makes decisions that are in the best interest of the healthcare in the territory. I thank her for responding to quickly,” said Senator Kurt Vialet,\u00a0chairman of the Committee on Health and Hospitals.<\/p>\n

\u201cFHC is extremely happy to receive the dental equipment from DOH. The donation of the equipment will provide greater access to oral healthcare on the island of St. Croix. FHC appreciates the generosity of Commissioner Nominee Davis and we look forward to continued collaborative efforts with the Virgin Islands Health Department,” added\u00a0Executive Director for the Frederiksted Healthcare Clinic, Masserae Webster.<\/p>\n
