ST. THOMAS — The Virgin Islands Police Department says it’s working to get guns off the streets. Have a look of at least one of the weapons officers recovered in St. Thomas between Friday and Saturday (click for expanded view).<\/p>\n

On Friday — responding to shots fired in the vicinity of Nadir at about 10:02 a.m. — police recovered\u00a0a sawed-off shotgun, a glock handgun with several extended magazines, ammunition and drugs.<\/p>\n

The following day officers responded to shots fired in the Oswald Harris Court area and observed an individual attempting to exit the location, who dropped a folding chair bag and left.<\/p>\n

The officers inspected the bag and recovered an AK-47 with 2 magazines. Police, however, were unable to locate the suspect after they recovered the weapon and ammunition, according to the release.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
