ST. CROIX — The St. Croix Foundation for Community Development on Wednesday announced via press release that Frederiksted Health Care Clinic has been approved for a $75,000 loan through the Denali Asset Management Reimbursable Health Fund, to support critical dental services to under-served and at-risk populations within the St. Croix community.<\/p>\n
The Denali HIV\/AIDS Fund is specifically designed to grant and loan flexible funding, primarily for reimbursable distribution, to providers who offer care to individuals afflicted with HIV\/AIDS on the island of St. Croix. Since 2007, this Fund has been providing funding for vital medication and health services for both private and public agencies, according to the release.<\/p>\n
\u201cWith 609 known cases of People Living with HIV\/AIDS in the U.S. Virgin Islands, half of which reside on St. Croix, the Foundation and Denali believe it is of grave importance to provide the optimum level of care to our at-risk populations,\u201d Executive Director Deanna James stated. \u201cBy awarding this loan, we can improve health risks for individuals and our community as a whole.\u201d<\/p>\n
The interest free loan is governed by a binding legal agreement that outlines the conditions of the loan and repayment plan.<\/p>\n
\u201cDenali\u2019s commitment to funding high-impact HIV and other disease prevention services allows for large-scale intervention services that improve individual health and reduces the risk of transmitting disease,” Ms. James added.<\/p>\n
Whether a grassroots effort, an established nonprofit, or a community-based project in need of a third-party fiduciary, St. Croix Foundation has served as a fiscal umbrella for over 220 community-based initiatives throughout the territory, says the release. Sponsoring up to 50 charitable projects at any given time, today the Foundation is a preeminent third-party fiduciary for local and federally funded community programs, where it is deemed that independent and accountable fiscal management will result in improved outcomes.<\/p>\n
The Foundation thanked the Frederiksted Health Care Clinic and Denali Asset Management for working collaboratively to ensure a healthier outcome for some of the island’s most underserved residents.<\/p>\n
