These thunderstorms are capable of producing torrential rainfall, gusty winds of up to around 30 miles per hour, frequent lightning and reduced visibilities. Urban and gut flooding is also possible with these passing thunderstorms. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with some of these thunderstorms and may cause localized flooding.<\/p>\n<p>VITEMA and the US National Weather Service is advising the motoring community to proceed with caution and avoid driving through flooded roadways. Also, frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this system. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm.
