ST. THOMAS — Commissioner of the Department of Finance Valdamier Collens, along with the Director of the Bureau of Internal Revenue, Marvin Pickering, have informed Governor Kenneth Mapp that almost $6 Million worth of income tax refunds were paid to taxpayers this week, Government House announced late Friday.<\/p>\n
According to the release, to date, the government has paid $67 Million in refunds for fiscal year 2016.<\/p>\n
The refunds come just in time for many families ahead of the beginning of the 2016-17 school year. Mr. Mapp has made it a priority of his administration to make available, in a timely fashion, tax refunds to taxpayers.<\/p>\n
Both Mr. Collens and Mr. Pickering acknowledge the hard work and dedication of their employees in the continuous processing and payment of income tax refunds, according to Government House.
