Five out of six cadets from the Virgin Islands Bureau of Corrections (B.O.C.) have graduated from the Federal Bureau of Prisons Staff Training Academy in Glynco, Georgia, Government House announced late Friday.<\/p>\n
The training, which involved a strict regimen, was held from August 9\u201325, and was the first time in the history of B.O.C. that cadets have had the opportunity to attend this training.<\/p>\n
The Government House release says B.O.C. is making positive strides and taking their officers and training to another level. The six correction officers from St. Croix and St. Thomas had an exceptional career opportunity when they were sent to a special three-week correctional officer training, according to the release.<\/p>\n
B.O.C. Director Rick Mullgrav proudly attended the graduation. He congratulated all the officers for successfully completing the training, and also extended a special congratulations and recognition to the officer that not only graduated with honors, but academically excelled above and beyond what was expected. The release did not name said officer.<\/p>\n
\u201cWith such talents and exceptional training under our wings, this is just the beginning of what is to come for the Bureau of Corrections,” Mr. Mullgrav said. “This was indeed history in the making that our officers graduated from a Federal Corrections Officer Training Academy. The Virgin Islands was represented extremely well at the academy. We are presently seeking applicants with law enforcement training experience to assist the Bureau in creating our own training division.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
