ST. THOMAS — The Virgin Islands Department of Education, St. Thomas-St. John District Office of the Insular Superintendent, is notifying parents of the early dismissal of all public schools on Thursday.<\/p>\n
Dismissals will take place three hours before normal release times and are necessary to accommodate monthly job-embedded professional development for teachers, according to the release.<\/p>\n
Lunch will be served before students are released and buses will be dispatched to schools to transport students to their normal drop-off locations. Parents are asked to ensure students are properly supervised following dismissals.<\/p>\n
Additionally, there is no school for students in the St. Thomas-St. John District on Friday, October 21, 2016, as the AFT TEACH professional development conference for educators will be held that day. School will resume at normal times on Monday, October 24, 2016.<\/p>\n
