ST. CROIX — The Juan F. Luis Hospital and Medical Center’s emergency department was recently renovated by Rotary Mid-Isle, and on Thursday, the completed room was toured by members of the organization, as well as its visiting District Governor, Haresh L. Ramchandani.<\/p>\n
The group repainted the room, and provided furniture and wall art, according to a release J.F.L. issued on Friday. They presented the completed room to J.F.L. officials Thursday, and the hospital\u2019s executive team applauded the effort, thanking Rotary for their ongoing support.<\/p>\n
\u201cI want to extend sincere appreciation to the Rotary Mid-Isle team for fostering this collaboration with J.F.L. so we may improve the patient experience here at our hospital,\u201d said J.F.L. Acting Chief Nursing Officer Jacintha Stephen. \u201cThis renovation helps to ensure that our patients and guests have a comfortable visit despite what may be a difficult time.”<\/p>\n
According to the release, Mr. Ramchandani is in the territory this week to meet with the local Rotary clubs and observe the work they have been doing within the community. Rotary Mid-Isle has supported JFL this year, first with the recent renovation of the ED\u2019s family room, and then by paying for the installation of a HEPA air purification system in the ED waiting area purchased by J.F.L. This filtration system helps purify the air, and greatly improves the air quality.<\/p>\n
Rotarians also presented hospital officials with three care packages for patients on the medical unit. The care packages consist of toiletries, Q-tips, washcloths, toothbrushes and other gifts to ensure a comfortable stay.<\/p>\n
\u201cRotary Club of St. Croix Mid-Isle came, saw the needs of the hospital, and fulfilled them,\u201d said Rotary Mid-Isle president Dominique Francois. \u201cOur focus is service, and helping J.F.L. helps the community.”<\/p>\n
Officials from Rotary Mid-Isle plan to continue their support of J.F.L. The group has pledged to purchase five defibrillators for the hospital. J.F.L. Acting Chief Executive Officer Richard Evangelista thanked the group for placing their faith in the hospital.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe would like to thank Rotary Mid-Isle for their generosity in renovating our ED family room, their assistance to bring the air filtration system online, and the care packages,\u201d Mr. Evangelista said. \u201cWe look forward to a continued relationship with Rotary Mid-Isle.”<\/p>\n
