ST. THOMAS — Police have taken into custody the ex-boyfriend of a female police officer, after he was seen leaving the vicinity of the officer’s residence\u00a0following the burning of the officer’s private and government-issued vehicles that were parked at her home.<\/p>\n
That’s according to Police Commissioner Delroy Richards, who revealed details of the incident to this publication today. He said shortly after 1:00 a.m. on Tuesday, the V.I.P.D. officer, a detective, was in her residence when she heard two loud explosions and proceeded to look outside, only to see her personal vehicle and the police-issued vehicle set on fire.<\/p>\n
The Fire Service was called to put out the flames, as well as the V.I.P.D. to investigate the matter.<\/p>\n
Officers then saw and apprehended the female detective’s ex-boyfriend, who is currently in custody. Mr. Richards said the relationship between the detective and her former lover had recently soured, however the commissioner said he was not sure whether investigators had at the time gathered enough information to charge the suspect.<\/p>\n
Police are continuing their investigation into the matter.<\/p>\n
